Visiting Amish Country in Holmes County

The Ohio General Assembly established the area that today is known as Holmes County, Ohio in 1824. Named after Andrew Holmes, an officer who died in the War of 1812 during an attack on Fort Mackinack in 1814, white German immigrants first settled the area between 1809 and 1810. At about this same time, smaller groups of eastern Pennsylvanian Amish Mennonites traveled across the Alleghenies in to settle near the Village of Sugarcreek, Ohio in Tuscarawas County near the Holmes County line.Today, the area now has the largest population of Amish people anywhere in the world with nearly 18,000 out of 40,000 residents in Holmes County being Amish. While you're visiting the area, make sure that you take in the picturesque scenery. Spend time enjoying the county's relaxing pace and wander down the winding country back roads of yesteryear. You'll quickly discover that every major road through the area could be designated as a scenic drive. The Amish People of Holmes CountyThe common misconception, which is totally false by the way, is that the Amish people are called as such due to their religious beliefs. The truth is that they are called Amish because of the oral traditions of their religion, called Ordnung, which has been passed down from generation to generation. Ordnung is a behavioral set of guidelines that they are committed to living their lives by. This lifestyle ethic is illustrated by their artwork, furniture, handmade quilts, and toys that can be found in the communities of Berlin, Millersburg, and Walnut Creek. There will be some variance in culture and tradition depending on the community that you visit. Dating, dress, marriage, roles of both the man and woman in the community and households, as well as how much modern technology is acceptable will vary. The Amish have always believed that they are equal in the eyes of God and that all things are done for His glory and to serve no other purpose.Things to Do in Holmes CountyVacationing in Holmes County will afford the traveler with a wide variety of dining, lodging, sightseeing, and shopping opportunities unlike anywhere else in the United States. If you want to relieve your stress, a trip to Holmes County and Ohio's Amish Country is just what the doctor ordered. Here are a few recommendations for things to do while visiting there.Amish Country Hot Air Balloon Rides - one hour flights by reservation onlyAmish & Mennonite Heritage Center - features a bookstore, Conestoga wagon, gift shop, local crafts, and a one-room schoolhouseAmish Country Riding Stables - Amish Country Riding Stables located at the Guggisberg Swiss Inn feature horse and buggy rides, as well as sleigh rides in winter (weather permitting)This is just a small sample of what awaits you when you visit Holmes County. Homeopathic Schools - Teaching Innovative Ways to Heal

Samuel Hahnemann, known as the father of homeopathy, first coined the term, "homeopathy" in 1807. Little did he know that his theories on medical similars would still be taught in homeopathic schools centuries later. If we track back in history, we find that conventional medicine in the 19th century incorporated barbaric and sometimes lethal healthcare treatments like blood-letting. In other words, what may be accepted as "traditional medicine" today proves to be a constantly-evolving cycle of treatment credibility. It was through Hahnemann's teachings at homeopathic institutions that taught individuals that there were more efficient and often natural ways to achieving health and healing.Since that time, homeopathic schools have been teaching a system of natural health care both here in the United States and across International borders throughout the world. In Belgium, for example, 59 percent of alternative and complementary medicine practitioners provide homeopathy* as a form of treatment; but that number could inevitably grow worldwide as public demand for alternative and complementary medicine continues to expand. (*World Health Organization - Regional Committee for the Easter Mediterranean Region)The aim of homeopathic colleges is to teach students and future practitioners the principles of "like curing like," and the "minimum dose" necessary for treatment. Because homeopathic medicine works with self-healing powers of the body to restore health and to promote wellbeing, teachers at homeopathic schools instruct students in treating individuals as a whole, and not just for specific "diseases." Primary homeopathic treatment focuses on all aspects of the healing process, including emotional, mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing.Homeopathic schools vary in prerequisite requirements; however a typical educational program is comprised of up to four years of in-depth studies. In the first year, students gain a foundational course in the theories and principles of homeopathy. In addition to learning about the law of similars, students learn the science of homeopathic provings, homeopathic pharmacy, materia medica, acute and chronic case taking, Hering's Law, and more.Year two at homeopathic schools provides hands-on training to future homeopathic practitioners. In addition to casework, advanced theories and practical applications are introduced to students at this point in time.Years three and four at homeopathic academic institutions are designed for individuals who are seriously pursuing a career as a homeopathic practitioner. Learning how to take cases, prescribe treatments, assess and make prognosis, and case management, among other associated studies.Since the time of Hippocrates, a number of healthcare systems have come to the forefront with each making purported claims of how their system works the best; however, homeopathic schools may offer some of the most advanced and enlightening modes of thinking and practical health treatments to date.If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding educational programs in homeopathy, let professional training within fast-growing industries like massage therapy, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Dual DVD Players and Features - Which One Should I Buy?

Want to install a dual DVD player to your old car to make entertainment go on wheels? But have no idea how to go about it? Which one to buy? Who manufactures them? What rates are being offered and is it within my budget? It sure is a difficult task to identify all this, considering the new technologies jumping into our lives every now and then.Well to start off let's first classify what a dual DVD player has to have. A dual DVD is a player in which a driver can enjoy radio (due to the presence of GPS receiver) through the speakers while at the same time the passengers can enjoy movies or video at the back with the help of the AV output. This means you can put up two headrest monitors in the back seat. A monitor at the front, is a decision totally dependent upon a driver. Usually drivers don't put one as it appears to be a distraction to them.Features:• A car dual DVD player may consist of a GPS-navigation which is very helpful to the driver in the way that only by pressing it the instructions will be played though the music will die down for a few seconds but after the instructions are over the system will get you back to your music.• A few of them may have the option to go portable. This means you can take it with you your room or anywhere you want.*(batteries can be used to recharge it.)• The LCD size should also be taken into consideration.• The picture and sound quality are of main concern. Many of the players now have HDMI technology available. Goods news for those who are quality freaks!• Some new DVD players can even play blu-ray disc, USB ports, MP3 playback and even have the capability to play the newer digital video file formats like MP4 and DivX.• Multi-DVD changing player is good for those who listen to various DVDs at a time. Some models let you put upto six DVDs in its tray at a time. Minimum is three DVDs.• Videos and movies can also be recorded, only if the model allows you to.• Another important feature that a buyer must consider is that whether the system is providing various different outputs for videos, audio and digital & analog input. Many companies have come up with various models to facilitate their customers including Sony, Toshiba, JVC, Philips.
